Me: Good morning, sir! Remember me? I’ve brought a friend who was a regular blood donor before.
Philippine Red Cross Personnel (PRCP): Yes, sir! Since both of you already donated blood, would you like to level up and donate platelet for the dengue patients in Zamboanga outbreak?
Me: Immediately level up for donation?!
PRCP: Sir, there are many dengue patients there. But the platelet donors are very few, because it needs two (2) hours for the complete procedures, instead of 30 minutes only for blood donation. We will collect blood sample, wait for one hour to check the blood of the donor if it is healthy and capable to donate platelet. Then one hour to collect the platelet from blood, and return the red blood cells to the donor’s body.
Me: (Fearful, but excited to level up the help for others. Talked to God, if it is Your will for me to donate platelet, let it be. But asked Him, please make it smooth and not hurtful for Daniel and I during the platelet extraction.)
PRCP: Sir, there will be movie, and lunch meal instead of snack only after the complete platelet donation.
Me: Will there be lechon? Just kidding.
PRCP: Yes, sir! Lechon manok. Hehe
Me: Daniel, do you have other commitment for today?
Daniel: None.
Me: What do you think? Blood or platelet donation?
Daniel: Up to you, Mac.
